Motor vehicle accident with trauma impact to pelvis mainly and severe pelvic pain.
Patient Data
Displaced fracture left superior and inferior pubic rami.
A fracture line is seen at the right iliac bone extending to right sacroiliac articulation.
Vertically orientated fracture of right iliac bone involving its crest and wing extending caudally along through the right sacroiliac joint.
Left superior and inferior pubic rami fractures with displacement and small bony fragments.
Case Discussion
Bucket handle fractures of the pelvis are a result of anteroposterior compression energy vectors. It is described as a vertically-orientated fracture through ipsilateral superior and inferior pubic rami with contralateral sacroiliac joint disruption/dislocation.
