Presentation

3 week history of left sided hip pain. Reduced range of motion.

Patient Data

Age: 7 years
Gender: Female
x-ray

Attempted frog-leg lateral. Reduced abduction on the left. Thickening and sclerosis of the ilium and ischium.

mri

The MRI confirms the abnormality centered on the ischium with expansion and edema. There is edema in the ilium and pubis, but there is less expansion.

Thin subperiosteal collection on the internal surface of the left pubis adjacent to the triradiate cartilage.

Marked surrounding edema, particularly of obturator internus. No collection.

Moderate left hip joint effusion.

3 months later

x-ray

Sclerosis and widening of the left ischium and, to a lesser extend, left ilium.

1 year after presentation

x-ray

Consolidation of the left ischium and pubis.
