65 year old male presenting with sudden onset chest pain

Patient Data

Age: 65
Gender: Male

Penetrating atherosclerotic ulcer of the ascending aorta with mediastinal hematoma and compression of the pulmonary artery.

Case Discussion

This patient underwent surgery with successful replacement of the ascending aorta and the aortic arch. Unfortunately, he went on to die 2 weeks later secondary to multi-organ failure.
