Case Discussion

The CT shows an penetrating atherosclerotic ulcer of the ascending aorta with mediastinal hematoma and compression of the pulmonary artery.

This patient underwent surgery with successful replacement of the ascending aorta and the aortic arch. Unfortunately he went on to die 2 weeks later secondary to multi-organ failure.
