Patient Data
There is a metallic screw seen penetrating the right frontal bone.
There is a metallic screw penetrating the right frontal bone, extending about 4 cm into the brain parenchyma. Adjacently, there is a right frontal lobe parenchymal hematoma measuring 3.3 x 2.8 x 4 cm. There is a midline shift to the left. Multiple small areas of air density are seen within the brain parenchyma,
Case Discussion
This case represents one of the mechanisms of traumatic brain injury. Non-enhanced CT is the modality of choice for evaluation of traumatic brain injury and is usually the first modality to be employed in such cases.
