Presentation

A pediatric male patient presented with a penetrating injury to the left flank after falling backward onto a glass table.

Patient Data

Age: 0-5
Gender: Male

CT reveals a linear hyperdense foreign body (glass shard) penetrating the left kidney, and the glass shard's distal tip extends to the left anterior pararenal space. Mild subcapsular and anterior pararenal space collection on the left. No active contrast extravasation from the renal collecting system during the excretory phase.

Case Discussion

Patient underwent surgery. Penetrating renal injury by a glass shard is a rare entity.
