Presentation
Patient heard a 'crack' during vaginal intercourse.
Patient Data
Transverse fracture of tunica albuginea is seen with fracture extending through right corpora cavernosa, and collection beneath the Buck's fascia. Marked surrounding edema in penis is seen.
Intra-operatively, tear corresponding to MR images were found and well repaired.
Case Discussion
This is a classical MR imaging features of transverse penile fracture.
Since, fracture depth is more than AP dimension, its considered a transverse fracture. At the same time, if AP dimension is more than depth, it is considered a longitudinal fracture.
Also, noted in this case, is the depth of fracture is not extending to urethra. Patient did not have hematuria, and urethra was found intact on surgical exploration.
