Perforated appendicitis

Right sided lower abdominal pain for last 3 days. No fever or urinary complaints.

Patient Data

Age: 35 yrs
Gender: Male

The appendix is visualized in right iliac fossa; measuring about 50 mm in length. There is the loss of gut signature sign of appendix base. Appendiceal lumen is collapsed. There is no fecolith. Periappendiceal fat is echogenic along with the localized collection. 

Case Discussion

A male patient presented with right sided abdominal pain for last 3 days. Ultrasound shows loss of gut signature sign at the appendiceal base along with the peri-appendiceal collection. Surgery confirmed perforated appendicitis.
