Perianal abscess

Presentation

Diabetic patient with renal failure developed fever, anal pain and perianal swelling.

Patient Data

Age: 64 years old
Gender: Male
mri

Bilateral abscesses with air fluid levels seen at both ischioanal fossae. Also there is trans-sphincteric perianal fistula at 6 o'clock position. No contrast was given to the patient due to deteriorated renal function.

Case Discussion

Perianal abscesses and fistulas are complication of infected perianal glands.

Diabetes mellitus, trauma and Crohn disease are common risk factors.
