Periarticular ossification of the MCP joint

History of hand trauma and immobilisation 18 months earlier. Swelling and discomfort at the MCP III joint.

periarticular ossification 

There is a bizarre osseous formation at the radial aspect of the 3rd metacarpal head. The underlying bone shows a small osteophyte, but no defects or deformities.
