Pericallosal lipoma

Case contributed by Abdallah Al Khateeb
Diagnosis certain

Presentation

Intractable seizures.

Patient Data

Age: 18 months
Gender: Male
ct

Abnormal configuration of the interhemispheric area, with an ill defined fat density lesion and abnormally shaped third ventricle.

mri

The MRI shows a dysgenetic corpus callosum (only genu is formed) and the fat intensity lesion at the interhemispheric fissure. No posterior fossa abnormality. Normal lying cerebellar tonsils.

Case Discussion

A fat density / intensity lesion at the interhemispheric fissure is in keeping with a pericallosal lipoma, which is the most common location. There is an association with abnormalities of the corpus callosum as in this case.
