Patient Data
The irregular curvilinear left para-median mass extending over the superior margin of the corpus callosum body, curving over the posterior margin of the splenium through the retro-thalamic cistern, follows fat signal on all sequences. On the sagittal T1 images the rostrum of the corpus callosum is not terribly well imaged but appears normally formed.
Case Discussion
This case demonstrates typical appearances of a curvilinear pericallosal lipoma. If the rostrum is indeed normal, then this suggests that the splenium (although appearing foreshortened) is probably normal also (as the rostrum is the last part of the corpus callosum to form), and as such no callosal dysgenesis is present, but rather a minor degree of hypoplasia.
