Chronic cough.

Patient Data

Age: 43
Gender: Female

Enlarged cardiac silhouette, which as a globular appearance. Small bilateral pleural effusions. 


One month prior

Comparison with x-ray from one month prior shows a normal cardiomediastinal contour. 

Case Discussion

Comparing with prior films to assess the rate of change in cardiac silhouette size is the key to making the diagnosis of pericardial effusion.
