Considerable fluid in the pericardial sac with marked smooth thickening/enhancement of both surfaces of the pericardium consistent with an infective/inflammatory pericarditis. Note also infective changes at both lung bases.
Case Discussion
Pericarditis is defined as inflammation of the pericardium. It is normally found in association with cardiac, thoracic or wider systemic pathology and it is unusual to manifest on its own.
