Perinephric abscess

Diagnosis almost certain

Presentation

Alcoholic male. Right ureteric stenting done about 2 wk back. C/o Right flank pain - Few hrs.

Patient Data

Age: about 65 yrs
Gender: Male
ultrasound

Asymptomatic side - Left  kidney - Normal.

Symptomatic side - RIGHT  kidney - Air foci in upper pole parenchyma. A collection with air foci is noted posterior to interpole and lower pole of right kidney - - abscess with approximate volume of 50 cc.

Right ureteric stent is noted in situ. Right vesico-ureteric junction calculus ( 6 mm ) is noted.

Changes of hepatic parenchymal disease with spleno-renal and perigastric collaterals were present - Images not uploaded.

Case Discussion

Ultrasound guided drainage done by urologist - revealed Pus.
