Perinephric lymphoma

An incidental finding was found on follow-up for urinary retention.

Patient Data

Age: 85 years
Gender: Male

Measurement & Biopsy


Longitudinal ultrasound images visualizing a perinephric mass with homogeneous echotexture, isoechoic, and well-circumscribed. The widest portion measuring 25mm above the superior renal pole.

A core needle is visualized within the perinephric mass for biopsy (Ultrasound-guided).

Series of Perinephric Lymphoma


Axial and coronal images of a homogeneous, well-circumscribed, hyperdense perirenal mass that enhances after the administration of IV contrast. 

Ultrasound-guided biopsy was done and the histopathology report confirmed the diagnosis of primary perinephric lymphoma. 

Case Discussion

Here is a case of asymptomatic presentation of perinephric/renal lymphoma that is confirmed histopathologically.

Isolated perinephric lymphoma is rare and accounts for less than 10% of renal lymphoma1.

Differential list includes;  primary and secondary renal lymphoma, other primary renal malignancy, metastatic renal spread, renal hematoma, or renal abscess.
