Presentation

Tripped up and fell onto face, smashing sunglasses in the process. Presented a week later to ED with painful swelling of his eyelids.

Two densities projecting in the upper and lower eyelids of the right orbit with mild surrounding inflammatory change.

No globe or retro-orbital abnormality.

Case Discussion

These radio-opaque densities on XR and CT were confirmed to be small fragments of glass in the superficial soft tissues. These were removed under local anaesthetic.
