Presentation

Lower central abdominal pain and fever. The clinical exam revealed an umbilical fistula with discharging clear fluid. No past history of surgery.

Patient Data

Age: 25 years
Gender: Male

Communication between the peritoneal cavity to the skin is established by injecting iodinated contrast through the umbilicus.

The contrast is seen in the peritoneal space outlining the bowel loops with extension into pelvic region.

No extension of contrast into the lumen of bowel is seen.

The ureter and urinary bladder is not opacified.

Case Discussion

Peritoneocutaneous fistula is a communication of the peritoneal cavity with the skin. The cause of the fistula is unknown in this case.
