Intubated and ventilated due to COVID-19 pneumonia. GCS 5 despite discontinuation of sedation.

Peritonsillar abscess

Elliptical structure measuring 10 x 9 x 17 mm in the left palatine tonsil, hypodense to muscle (density of 25 HU) with enhancing margins. Features are in keeping with an abscess.
Endotracheal tube. NGT passed through left nostril.
Case Discussion
Incidentally discovered small abscess in the left palatine tonsil.
The ENT specialist did not see a bulge in the tonsil and had to consult the CT scan before making an incision to release pus.
Enterococcus faecalis was cultured from the abscess.
