Microscopic Description:

Sections show pieces of a high-grade glioma displaying astrocytic characteristics predominantly. Areas of necrosis, including geographic areas of necrosis with nuclear pseudopalisading, are seen. Focal endothelial cell proliferation is observed. Some vessels display thrombotic occlusion of the lumen. Nuclear pleomorphism is increased. The tumour cells display, predominantly, astrocytic features. Mitotic figures are identified without difficulty.
