Peroneal tendon dislocation

Presentation

Trauma to ankle - Few days back O/E - antero-lateral ankle swelling. Recent ankle radiograph - No bony changes.

Patient Data

Age: about 35 yrs
Gender: Male
Ultrasound

Anterior talo-fibular ligament: Intact, normal
Anterior tibio-fibular ligament: Intact, normal.
Calcano-fibular ligament: Intact, normal.

Peroneal tendons: 
Intact. Normal echopattern. No tenosynovitis. Dislocated at rest. Both tendon are anterior to lateral malleolus.

Ankle joint
Effusion seen in anterior recess
Fluid with echoes deep to calcano-fibular ligament that is lateral recess.
