Presentation
Ankle twist - about 6 weeks back. Snapping at the lateral aspect of the ankle.
Patient Data
Referred with clinical diagnosis of peroneal instability.
Static ultrasound images show intact peroneal tendons located superficial to the fibula. There is no associated bony avulsion fracture from the distal end of the fibula.
The peroneus brevis tendon is compressed between the peroneus longus tendon and fibula.
Dynamic scan (not uploaded) showed dislocation of tendons from the normal location in the retromalleolar groove of the distal fibula.
The asymptomatic side was examined for comparison and there was no tendon instability.
Case Discussion
Findings of peroneal tendon instability with intact tendons.
