An elongated fascial defect measures 30 (length) x 10 (width) mm at the site of the previous laceration. Peroneus brevis muscle herniation through the defect. No muscle rupture/ collection. Multiple dot-like echogenic foci (< 1 mm) in the affected muscle and adjacent subcutaneous plane are probably tiny foreign bodies. Normal peroneus longus tendon at the fascia defect level. No peroneal tenosynovitis.

Case Discussion

The patient had a distal lateral leg laceration which was sutured at the time of the injury. The ultrasound was requested for local bulge and mild pain. Ultrasound findings suggest peroneus brevis muscle herniation at the site of injury.
