Peroneus brevis tendon split tear at the level of the lateral malleolus. Note the positive cashew nut/boomerang sign. Fluid signal intensity is seen between the torn parts of the peroneus brevis tendon.
Case Discussion
Peroneus brevis tendon tears can present with lateral ankle pain with or without a history of trauma. Ultrasound or MRI is useful in the diagnosis.
