Presentation

Ankle pain while walking on the lateral side for two weeks.

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Female

Longitudinal split tear of the peroneus brevis tendon and forward moving of the peroneus longus tendon into the gap

Flat retromalleolar groove

Signs of tenosynovitis of the common peroneous tendon sheath.

Case Discussion

Peroneus brevis tendon tears are acute or chronic, and may be asymptomatic or associated with lateral ankle pain and/or instability. They commonly occur at the level of the retromalleolar groove.
