Mortise joint effusion is seen.
Abnormal intrasubstance increased fluid signal is present along the course of anterior talofibular ligament related to ATFL sprain.
There is a third myotendinous structure within the peroneus tendon sheath posteromedial to the peroneus longus and brevis tendons, that can be followed down to the retrotrochlear eminence of the calcaneus.
