Persistent metopic suture is seen as an irregular line with interdigitations of the midline frontal bone.

No subdural or extradural hematoma nor cerebral edematous or hemorrhagic contusion

No skull fracture is seen.

Case Discussion

The metopic suture is usually obliterated by about 7 years of age, in rare cases, it can persist as an anatomical variant and should not be mistaken for a frontal bone fracture. The midline position in the frontal bone and characteristic sutural interdigitations will help to differentiate both entities.
