pH probe with tip in distal esophagus.
Normal mediastinal and cardiac contours. Lungs are clear.
Case Discussion
Probes measuring esophageal pH as part of a gastroesophageal reflux workup are not frequently seen on pediatric chest radiographs.
The tip of the probe should be seen in the distal esophagus (above the gastroesophageal junction).
It is important not to confuse it with a feeding tube.
The probe is connected to a monitor that records acid levels over a 24-hour period.
