Trauma.

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Male
x-ray

Well-defined bony outgrowth arising from the radial aspect of the proximal phalanx of the index finger. The direction of growth is towards the adjacent joint (in this case, the proximal interphalangeal joint), which is unusual for an osteochondroma.

No acute fracture identified.
