Presentation
Swelling of the ankle without trauma.
Patient Data
The examination showed abundant joint effusion with two solid synovial nodules. These nodules have intermediate intensity on T1 and low weighing in T2; the latter show "blooming" type artifacts referable to deposits of hemosiderin. No recognizable osteocartilaginous injury.
Case Discussion
The nature of PVNS is still unknown with metabolic disorders, exuberant inflammation, recurrent bleeding and inflammation secondary to repeated trauma are among the possible causes of this disease. MRI allows, in T2-weighted sequences, to detect the presence precipitates hemosiderin inside the nodules that characterize the lesion. The use of m.d.c. standard and dynamic does not seem to further information on the characterization.
