Pigmented villonodular synovitis of knee

Case contributed by Dr Aneesh km

Patient Data

Age: 28 years
Gender: Male

Diffuse  synovial thickening noted involving knee joint. Thickened synovium is hypointense on T2 and shows multiple irregular low T2 foci. Multiple T2 hypointense signal loose bodies also noted in suprapatellar bursa. Both medial and lateral tibial and femoral condyles show large cysts with heterogeneous signals and low T2 signal intensity rim. The hypointense T2 signal foci described are possibly due to hemosiderin contents.
