Classification of Pipkin fractures

  •  type I: femoral head fracture distal/inferior to the fovea capitis
  •  type II: fracture extending proximal/superior to the fovea capitis
  •  type III: type I or II fracture associated with femoral neck fracture
  •  type IV: type I or II fracture associated with acetabular rim fracture
