Pituitary macroadenoma

Enlarged pituitary fossa, filled by a solid enhancing tumor, extending into the suprasellar cistern. The pituitary is not separately identified.
The tumor has overall dimensions of 14*23*25 mm.
The mass causes superior displacement and marked compression of the optic chiasm.
On the left side, the lesion bulging into the cavernous sinus, abutting the ipsilateral carotid artery, but not invading the carotid arteries on either side.
Case Discussion
Pituitary macroadenoma is the most common suprasellar mass in adults, and responsible for the majority of trans-sphenoidal hypophysectomies.
