Presentation

Abnormal head shape.

Patient Data

Age: 6 months
Gender: Male
X-ray

The right coronal suture is not seen and there is a plagiocephaly type of deformity.

CT

CT-scan confirms the left coronal craniosynostosis (plagiocephaly).

Case Discussion

Other types of craniostenosis:

  • scaphocephaly: sagittal craniostenosis
  • plagiocephaly: unilateral asymmetric or multiple craniostenosis
  • oxycephaly: lambdoid, sagittal & coronal craniostenoses
  • turricephaly (towering skull): bilambdoid or bicoronal craniostenosis
  • brachycephaly: bilambdoid or bicoronal craniostenosis
  • Kleeblattschädel (cloverleaf skull): bicoronal and bilambdoid craniostenosis
