Case contributed by Tamer O. Abdo
Diagnosis almost certain

Presentation

Abnormal head shape.

Patient Data

Age: 15 years
Gender: Male

Brain CT

ct

Abnormal fusion of the right side of the coronal suture causing a slanting configuration of the frontal skull bone consistent with plagiocephaly.
Upward elevation of the right superior orbital corner consistent with Harlequin eye deformity.

The cerebral hemispheres appear slightly asymmetrical with an obliquely oriented anterior falx, although no frank loss of parenchymal volume is seen.

Case Discussion

Plagiocephaly is a type of craniosynostosis in which one side of the coronal (frontal plagiocephaly)   or lambdoid (occipital plagiocephaly) suture prematurely fuses, causing a slanting configuration of the affected side of the skull.

Frontal plagiocephaly may be associated with Harlequin eye deformity.
