Presentation
Right plantar foot pain over several years, with a small palpable lump.
Patient Data
multiple discrete fusiform thickenings/lesions of the plantar fascia located distant from the calcaneal insertion, the largest measuring 11 x 5 mm
no increased vascular flow is demonstrated in relation to these thickenings
plantar fascia measures 3.7 mm away from the thickenings/lesions
Case Discussion
Ultrasound findings in this case are characteristic of plantar fibromatosis, also known as Ledderhose disease.
The patient was managed conservatively in this case, but surgical excision may be considered if the lesions are painful and disabling.
