Focal, well-defined, mainly hypoechoic, elliptically shaped lesion at the site of the palpable lump. It involves the plantar fascia away from calcaneal insertion. Otherwise, the plantar fascia shows a normal echo pattern.
Case Discussion
Plantar fibromatosis and plantar fasciitis are the main differential diagnoses in patients complaining of pain and palpable swelling in the sole of the foot. Ultrasound is the initial imaging modality for differentiation.
