Well defined solid mass lesion is seen in the suprasellar region with broad attachment to the planum sphenoidale and adjacent perilesional edema. Mass shows isointense signal on T1 and mild hyperintense signal on T2 & FLAIR sequences. On post contrast, the lesion shows intense homogeneous enhancement with dural tail sign and encasement of the optic chiasma. The pituitary gland is seen separately from the mass.

Case Discussion

Planum sphenoidale is one of the least common site for menigiomas. Typical imaging features are broad base towards the dura, isointense to grey matter on T1 and T2 weighted imaging with intense homogeneous enhancement.
