Pleomorphic adenoma of parotid gland

Presentation

Soft-touch mass-like bulge in the lateral upper neck with progressive enlargement during the recent eight months.

Patient Data

Age: 60 years
Gender: Female

Ill-defined solid mass lesion axial width up to 30 x 25 mm and height up to 22 mm and mild to moderate heterogenous enhancement in left parotid gland superficial lobe anterolateral part is seen. No obvious deep extension of the mass is noted.

Case Discussion

The case illustrates some contrast-enhanced features of pathology-proved pleomorphic adenoma of the parotid gland. The tumor can slowly enlarge and has some risks of malignancy if left untreated. The treatment is surgical either subtotal or total superficial parotidectomy 1.
