Presentation

Painless swelling of the left parotid region.

Patient Data

Age: 11 years
Gender: Female
ultrasound

Well-circumscribed, lobulated homogeneously hypoechoic mass within the superficial lobe of the left parotid gland, well-vascularized on color Doppler with posterior acoustic enhancement.

Case Discussion

Ultrasound features of a well-circumscribed homogeneously hypoechoic and vascularized mass of the left parotid gland.

The patient went on to have surgical resection of the tumor. with a histopathological exam that confirms the diagnosis of pleomorphic adenoma.

Salivary gland tumors are rare in the pediatric population and the majority are of benign origin. The pleomorphic adenoma is considered the most common type 1
