Pleomorphic adenoma - parotid

Diagnosis probable

Presentation

Painless swelling of the right parotid gland.

Patient Data

Age: 45 years
Gender: Male
mri

There is a small lobulated well-encapsulated mass of the right parotid gland measuring (22 x 20 x 18 mm). It shows a low signal on T1, high signal on T2 with a peripheral hypointense rim (capsule) and no restricted diffusion. The postcontrast dynamic sequences show a progressive and gradual enhancement of the tumor giving the appearance of a TIC (time–signal intensity curve) type A according to Yabuuchi et al classification.

Normal appearance of the left parotid gland.

No cervical lymphadenopathy.

MR features are suggestive of pleomorphic adenomas of the right parotid gland.
