There is a well-defined lobulated hypoechoic lesion measuring 36 x 33 x 24 mm located in the superficial lobe of the left parotid gland.
The right parotid and submandibular glands were normal.
Case Discussion
The ultrasound features of a well-defined hypoechoic lesion in the superficial lobe of the parotid gland in a middle-aged female patient are suggestive of a pleomorphic adenoma which was pathologically proven.
The salivary glands are the most common site of pleomorphic adenomas with 84% in the parotid gland.
