Left thigh swelling

Patient Data

Age: 55 years
Gender: Female

A large, well-defined, abnormal signal intensity mass lesion in the medial compartment of the left thigh, returning low signal intensity on T1, heterogeneous high signal intensity on T2/PD sequences with heterogeneous enhancement on post contrast image. No involvement of underlying bony structures.

This is a biopsy proven case of pleomorphic undifferentiated sarcoma.

Pleomorphic undifferentiated sarcoma, previously known as malignant fibrous histiocytosis (MFH) or undifferentiated spindle cell sarcoma (USCS), is a term that is used for the classification of sarcomas that cannot be assigned a cell of origin, whether by histological, immunohistochemical, ultrastructural, or molecular criteria 1.
