Presentation
Left thigh swelling
Patient Data
A large, well-defined, abnormal signal intensity mass lesion in the medial compartment of the left thigh, returning low signal intensity on T1, heterogeneous high signal intensity on T2/PD sequences with heterogeneous enhancement on post contrast image. No involvement of underlying bony structures.
This is a biopsy proven case of pleomorphic undifferentiated sarcoma.
Case Discussion
Pleomorphic undifferentiated sarcoma, previously known as malignant fibrous histiocytosis (MFH) or undifferentiated spindle cell sarcoma (USCS), is a term that is used for the classification of sarcomas that cannot be assigned a cell of origin, whether by histological, immunohistochemical, ultrastructural, or molecular criteria 1.
Dr. Farhad Farzam has also contributed to this case.
