Pleural calcification

Chronic cough, right lower recurrent chest pain.

Patient Data

Age: 50 years
Gender: Male

A patchy area of faint opacification is seen within the right hemithorax.


Thick right posterior pleura with dense calcification. Pleural calcification may occur as sequel of old previous haemothorax as part of trauma.

Case Discussion

Marked thickening of the right posterior pleural surface. It has a dense calcific sheet. It occurs as a sequel of haemothorax as a sequence of previous RTA.
