Progressive shortness of breath. Apyrexic.

Patient Data

Age: 56
Gender: Female
x-ray

Large right sided pleural effusion, tracking towards the lung apex.

Mild mediastinal shift.

Left lung clear.

Case Discussion

Typical appearances of a pleural effusion with a readily apparent meniscus.

The effusion is beginning to cause mediastinal shift.

Investigation is merited, not least to exclude an underlying malignancy.
