Work up for the shortness of breath. Incidental finding.

Patient Data

Age: 50 years
Gender: Male

A 30× 15 mm well-defined pleural-based mass with a smooth margin and homogenous internal fat density is noted at the anterolateral aspect of the upper part of the right hemithorax inferring pleural lipoma. No adjacent rib erosion.

Case Discussion

Pleural lipoma is an encapsulated fatty tumor with a slow growth rate and the most common benign soft tissue tumor of the pleura, thought to never transform into a sarcoma.
