Pleural tuberculosis mass

This patient presented to the respiratory clinic with right sided pleuritic chest pains. She was otherwise well. She recalls lengthy 'chest infections' as a child in Mongolia.

Patient Data

Age: 25
Gender: Female

Chest radiograph

In the right lower zone, there is a sharply marginated peripheral mass forming obtuse angles with the chest wall. Heart and mediastinal contours appear within normal limits.

Case Discussion

VATS resection of the pleural mass was performed. Culture was positive for mycobacterium tuberculosis.
