Pneumatosis cystoides coli

Presentation

Rule out constipation.

Patient Data

Age: 55 years
Gender: Female
X-ray

Multiple radiolucent structures are seen near the splenic angle. The findings are compatible with pneumatosis cystoides colli.

CT

CT-scan confirms the diagnosis. However, a small pneumoperitoneum is also seen.

Case Discussion

Asymptomatic pneumoperitoneum may be associated with pneumatosis cystoides coli.
