Pneumatosis intestinalis

Presentation

Abdominal pain.

Patient Data

Age: 82
Gender: Male
X-ray

Apparent subdiaphragmatic free gas has been previously demonstrated, and on previous CT's has been shown to represent extensive pneumatosis intestinalis.

The bowel gas pattern is within normal limits, with no evidence of obstruction.

Gas and faecal matter is seen to the rectum.
