Presentation

Patient with cerebral hemorrhage underwent VP shunt placement followed by loss of consciousness

Patient Data

Age: 18 years old
Gender: Female

Extra axial air is collection extra axially at both frontal, left temporal and interhemispheric fissure giving the appearance of Mount fuji sign indicating tension pneumocephalus.

Nevertheless, there is intraventricular hemorrhage at lateral and 3rd ventricles more appreciated at the right lateral ventricle with moderate ventricular dilatation, right frontal subdural hematoma and subarachnoid hemorrhage.

Case Discussion

After placement of VP shunt the air introduced to the brain and the patient developed tension pneumocephalus which is neurosurgical emergency.
